What led to your passion for writing?

When I was in grade school, I was an avid reader of different types of books, especially the Goosebumps series. For some reason, one day I decided to write a short story that was similar to the Goosebumps series—a “spooky” kind of book. I was hooked.

From then on, I continued to write. Short stories. Poems. You name it. I even entered writing contests, including one developed by Disney.

My passion for writing has only flourished since then. In fact, I knew I wanted to be a writer before I even attended middle school.

Could you please describe some of your past experiences?

Prior to my senior year at Hope College, I was offered an opportunity to work for the Golf Channel as a Marketing and Promotions Intern.

For four months, I developed copy for GolfChannel.com—a goal of mine for years. As my work was published, I knew then, without a doubt, that I had discovered my vocation.

A couple years later, I decided to create my own writing and editing services company. Since founding Innovative Written Solutions, I have been offered a variety of opportunities to fulfill my childhood dreams, while writing for companies and publications throughout the United States.

Now, as my company continues to grow, I can’t wait for what the future holds.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Although it seems that I spend a majority of my time writing, I definitely have other passions.

When I’m away from my computer, you may find me out on a golf course. I love the serenity of the game of golf. In my opinion, there’s a certain level of peacefulness that you just can’t experience in any other sports.

I also love to travel. I recently completed a road trip out west, driving from Denver to L.A. and then up to Seattle, all the way back to Denver. I am currently interested in traveling outside of the United States too, particularly Japan, Italy and Australia.
